This is the Last Scheduled MSI Forecast Product for the 2009-10 Wet Season
Today: Soils are saturated from Wednesday's rainfall. Manure spreading is "Not Advisable" in the north
coastal zone and across the interior valleys of western Oregon. "Use Caution" along the south coast.
Friday: The MSI is forecast to remain in the "Not Advisable" range along the north coast but drop into the
"Use Caution" range across the interior western valleys. It should stay in the "Generally Okay" range along
the south coast.
Saturday: MSI values are forecast to remain in the "Not Advisable" range along the north coast but drop
into the "Generally Okay" range elsewhere.
Weather Discussion/Forecast:
An upper-level disturbance dropped significant rainfall across most of western Oregon Wednesday. The
south coastal region missed most of the showers, which became progressively heavier as they moved
northward across western Oregon Wednesday evening. Over three-quarters of an inch fell in sections of
Marion and Polk Counties overnight, with between one-quarter and one-half inch common across the
western valleys and north coast.
The rain was moving north of Oregon this morning, with mostly sunny skies expected today. Some isolated
showers may develop by late this afternoon, mainly over the Cascades. There is a better chance of showers
Friday afternoon and evening, with another upper-level disturbance forecast to move over the region. A few
showers will likely persist into Saturday, mainly north, with a dry day Sunday. More rain is forecast to move
onshore Monday.
